  • Eisenhower kept the New Deal and increased the minimum wage for workers
  • Many families moved to suburbs
  • Music boomed and rock 'n' roll became very big
  • Television shows were booming too such as I Love Lucy
Negatives:
  • One out of 5 americans lived in poverty
  • African Americans and Latinos were majorly affected by the urban decay
  • Women were confined to house keeping and job openings were limited
  • poets and writers protested people were living in a "square" society
